Sonic Boom Alarm Clock SB1000.
The Sonic Boom Alarm Clock is a unique clock that is guaranteed to wake up even the heaviest sleepers.

My husband and I are on slightly different work schedules, and when we first married, he was very apprehensive at the idea of an alarm clock going off at 4am! So he found the Shake Awake....3 years ago. It has never failed to wake me up, even on my most tired nights, and I've only changed the batteries once this whole time. After 3 years of daily use, the large button used for snoozing and using the backlight for the display isn't working so well, but I'm willing to shop for a new one! It works great and holds up to the manufacturer's claims.

Be careful of whom you purchase from-Maxi-Aids has terrible customer service when you receive a defective item. A month and many e-mails later, along with delivery confirmation, and a return authorization via the sales department, and they now refuse to replace as they had promised. Read the negative reviews carefully - I wish I had. Unfortunately, I put up a "glowing" review immediately upon receipt, and prior to gift recipient opening the item. I was waiting to remove it because they initially seemed like they wanted to "make things right". After 60 days, they know you can't remove it.

This extension cord allows me to have my sonic bomb alarm clock half way across the room so I have to get up out of bed to turn it off but can still use the vibrator. The extension cord is long enough for me to run it along the wall of my room so that I do not have to worry about tripping on it. Bought this extension cord at the same time as the sonic boom alarm clock in order to be sure teenage son must actually get out of bed and go across the room in order to shut off the alarm. The alarm itself is wonderful however the combination of the two is a MUST!! What use is the alarm if the person using it should turn it off and then try to get a few more winks?

Before purchasing this, I'd always wake up to my alarm, shut it off, and fall asleep again. I simply had to find a solution to this, else I'd be late every day of the year. I browsed online for a solution, and found this alarm clock; a nifty way of forcing you to not just wake up, but get out of bed. After viewing other products with a similar slogan costing twice as much, it was a no-brainer. I'd have to say the alarm is plenty loud enough to wake anyone, and when combined with my dog jumping over me to attack the device, it's a sure fire way of waking up each morning. The only fault would be that the flying piece lands on top off me, instead of flying to the other end of my room. But this doesn't really matter much, I find it very difficult to fall back to sleep after being woken by this.

I bought this for my wife who is a very heavy sleeper and who's actually lost a couple jobs from not being able to wake up in the morning in time. She's not deaf or anything, but she can totally sleep through a 'loud' alarm clock.
The buzzer:
I bought this based on the descriptions and other reviews of the several different models of this clock which made it sound very LOUD (wake the neighbors-type loud) which I hoped would be enough to startle her out of sleep. Unfortunately, this isn't noticeably louder than many other clocks I've had. My first impression of the buzzer was "That's IT?!" It has an adjustable tone which is neat, but still that doesn't make it any louder and only slightly more annoying. My wife wasn't impressed with the volume either. While adjusting it we didn't even have to really raise our voices over it to hear each other.
The vibrator:
This is the part that I'm counting on to wake her up. It's pretty strong and I'm surprised that something so small can shake so violently. If you put it in the pillow that you're using it's liable to cause brain damage after a while, but if you push your pillow more than a few inches away -or grab another pillow- it's useless. It works pretty good in between the mattress's though even though we have a pretty thick mattress on top. It won't rattle your teeth that way, but it should be enough to wake her up after just a minute or two.
The construction doesn't feel any better or worse than most clocks to me and it's easy enough to figure out how to set and use. I would have given it a higher star rating had it of just been louder.

I've had profound hearing loss since the age of 2. After years of my parents waking me up, I got my first Sonic Boom Alarm clock when I was in High School. I've had it for 12 years and it still works great! I bought this one because my old one was accidently packed up in storage while moving this summer.
This new style is more compact and is more aesetically pleasing, but has the same great qualities that the Sonic Boom Alarm clock has always had! I've never known anyone that could sleep through this alarm! I use just the vibrating option as that wakes me up just fine...the lights are a bit too much for me.

My 19 year old son was always a very hard sleeper. Throughout his school years, we would have shouting matches in the morning trying to wake him up to get to school on time. Mornings were always chaotic and seemed to get off on the wrong foot! We had even tried medication prescribed by his physician to try to help him change his sleep habits. This failed miserably.
When he moved out and went out into the workforce, he had trouble keeping jobs because he was always reporting late to work. Which meant he constantly had trouble paying his bills now that he was living on his own.
One afternoon, he asked us if there wasn't something we could buy that could "shock" him each morning to wake him up. As a last ditch effort to help him, I decided to browse online for something that could "shock" him awake.
I discovered this clock and decided to try it. To get to the point, he has not reported late since I gave him the clock. Thank you Sonic Boom!!

I bought this for my 13 year old to be able to wake up for school (6:30am) and not wake up his little brother who sleeps in the same room together with him.
It works like a charm, one of the best things I've bought (now I don't have to wake up then to wake him up!)
i.e. we use the vibratiing mechanism, slipped under his pillow- it goes bananas - no way to oversleep.
We don't use the sound alarm (as mentioned) so I can't really comment on that other than the fact that it is LOUD.
My one gripe with the product is that the vibrating mechanism literally goes bananas shaking and if my son doesn't wake up immediately it ends up falling on the floor. When it shakes (convulses) on the floor it makes too much noise - defeating the purpose. As a simple work around, we're planning on sewing/taping the pillow shut so that the mechanism can't slip out and onto the floor.
For this reason I rated it 4 out of 5 (instead of a full 5 stars).
But I'm very happy with it and planning to get one for my oldest daughter.

Putting it politely, this thing can wake the dead. The tone and volume are adjustible and set (im)properly can sound roughly like a cross between nails dragging across a blackboard and a cat being fed into a meat grinder. Combine the bed shaker and a volume control that can be turned up to an ungodly level and you're not going to be the most popular person in the dorm...but you'll never miss an 8am class again. Just don't turn it on on weekend mornings.
For normal sleeping people, the volume can be turned down and the bed shaker disconnected
